Faith: Faith Justifies

DAY 4 OF 5

A Source of Joy and Hope

As believers, we all face trials and difficulties in life. Whether due to a personal struggle, a family crisis, or a global pandemic, there are times when we feel like everything is falling apart. But what if I told you that these afflictions can be a source of joy and hope? What if I told you that God can use even the most difficult circumstances to transform your life and draw you closer to Him? In this devotional, we’ll explore the benefits of learning to rejoice in our trials, and how this can lead to a deeper faith and a stronger character. So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed or discouraged, I invite you to join me on this journey.

Discovering the joy and hope that can be found amid affliction doesn’t mean that we should love trouble or welcome trials with open arms. Instead, it means that we can find joy in the knowledge that God is at work in our lives, even when we don’t see or feel Him at work. We can have hope and faith in Him, even in affliction.

In Romans 5:3-4, we see a beautiful progression from affliction to endurance, proven character, and hope. We can take comfort in knowing that our trials serve a purpose and that through endurance and character, we can emerge with a deeper faith and a stronger connection to God.

Remember that cultivating God-honoring character is a deeply personal endeavor. It’s not about putting on a show for others or trying to impress them. It’s about the daily practice of trusting in God and seeking His will in our lives.

Sometimes, it is easy to get caught up in the pain of our afflictions and forget that God is with us. But when we learn to rejoice in Him, even during our trials, we can find peace and hope that surpasses all understanding.

Are you going through a difficult time right now? Have you considered this trial an opportunity for growth and transformation? What can you learn from this experience? How can you use it to draw closer to God and cultivate a stronger character?

Instead of simply enduring the affliction, what would it look like to truly rejoice in it? To find comfort in knowing God is at work, even when we can't see it? To trust in His plan for our lives, even when everything seems to fall apart? The Lord is faithful and He will see you through whatever you face.

About this Plan

Faith: Faith Justifies

Justification declares sinners righteous on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ alone. When God looks at us as believers in Christ, it’s just as if we’d never sinned, and we receive every benefit of justification. These include having peace with God, obtaining access to Him, learning to rejoice in hope and affliction, cultivating God-honoring character, and possessing His love.
