Is Your Heart on Fire? - Glen Berteau

DAY 3 OF 5

Heart Surrender
God is after your heart. You can go to church, hear your pastor’s message, put your hand on your heart, pray a prayer—even mean it! But on most weeks, your seed of faith is stolen within a few days. When the enemy comes, persecution and trials come, and you find you are right back in the same rut. Why does that happen? Because your heart does not fully belong to God. There are parts of it that you have not surrendered to Him.

Your heart is hardened. It is offended. It is complacent. This is why you cannot retain the Word. You are responsible for it and for your lack of surrender. Thank God that today is your day to do something about it!

When you surrender your heart completely to God—you let Him into the parts that you have denied existed and have kept locked up—your heart will soften. You will repent and change your thinking and behavior. And suddenly you will notice that you are accelerating spiritually. This is the proper position for revival.

Do you want spiritual acceleration? For God to transform your life, you must first surrender. You must die to your will and way of doing things. God wants you to die to sin, selfishness, rebellion, pride, and anger.

We cannot casually say a prayer or hear a message and then forget about it and go about our lives. We are to pick up our cross, deny ourselves daily and say, “God, what is my assignment today? I am absolutely surrendered. My energy is Yours. My time is Yours. My finances are Yours.” If God doesn’t have all of you, you have a problem. But when He has all of you, He will do miraculous things in and through you!

God wants to make you a leader, but He cannot do it with obstacles in your life. God cannot take you to the promised land with a mess in the way. He needs you yielded. You need to get tired of running your own life. Surrender your heart, your finances, your love life, your spouse, and your half-hearted, powerless Christianity. Say this with me: I am tired of complacency. I am tired! Lord, break me. Break my heart. Make my heart sensitive to what is on Your heart. I need a heart revival!
