Life with Jesus brings fellowship and joy. That’s important to Jesus. It’s important to John. And I suspect it’s important to you. People in John’s day were breaking fellowship with the Christians John was writing to for the sake of their own fellowships. They did it because they had their own ideas about Jesus and the spiritual life. And why not? Who needs other believers anyway? But a fellowship of believers isn’t fellowship for its own sake. John says fellowship with those living by the truth of Christ brings fellowship with the Father and Jesus Christ. Now that’s fellowship. That’s joy!
