Body Image God's Way Part 2نموونە
Your Body Is Good
I want to invite you to think back over your entire journey. As you’ve made your way through life, how much time have you spent trying to make your body good? How long have you lived in turmoil over your body? Maybe because of something someone said or did to you, or maybe because of what the world says is a “good” body.
Just reflect for a moment.
In all of your striving, you have likely not arrived at a place of feeling good enough. You’ve tried everything, done all the diets, and gone in circles trying to feel good about your body, but it’s never quite enough. The goal posts move further away. You compare your body to someone else’s. You hit a bump in the road and find yourself back to being at odds with the reflection in the mirror.
Can I be totally honest with you? No matter how hard you try, you’ll never make your body good enough. That’s because it already is good.
The problem is that in your heart, you don’t see it that way. But the good news is that the Word of God has the answer that can shift the way you feel. And as you begin to lean into a fresh understanding of what actually makes your body good, according to what God says, you’ll find peace that is unexplainable.
Here’s the thing. All the way back in the very beginning, in Genesis 1:31, it says that "God looked over everything he had made; it was so good, so very good!" He had spent several days creating life and being, and He marked every bit of it with His stamp of approval.
He didn’t look at Adam or Eve and say, “Now make sure you maintain that BMI level. And keep your weight in check. And stick to a diet for the rest of your days on earth.” No way! He just created it. And said that it was good.
Maybe you’ve been striving for a lifetime to achieve a good body. But by God’s standard, your body already is good. Not only did God say so, but He made you in His image, and in His likeness.
And even though you sometimes look in the mirror and find it really hard to say kind things, the truth is that you were literally hand-crafted by God inside your mother’s womb. Your body is good.
So instead of chasing a body that will never feel quite good enough, let’s come into agreement with the intricate and intentional design that God has already marked as good.
Say this mantra throughout today: “My body is good. So very good.”
