DAY 2 OF 5

As You Will

For an early-morning person, the words “I rise before the dawn and cry for help” are relatable, and perhaps even unremarkable. For those who favor the snooze button, rising before dawn sounds highly overrated. So how do those who love their sleep get past rising before the sun comes up and lay claim to the power and promise of scripture?

Those who dedicate this type of rising, meet the day. They open their eyes, and their thoughts go straight to the Lord. Before anyone or anything has an opportunity to crowd their thoughts with obligation, worry, or entertainment, they bring themselves authentic and unadulterated before God. They go to his Word and let him speak to them there. They find their hope there before anything else finds them.

Help me, Father God. I run to meet you. Help me, love, listen, and learn well today. Before anything or anyone else can say a word, let me hear from you. This is where my hope lies, in these first minutes, when we are all there. See me as I am, and make me as you will.
