Real Hope: The Passion - Week 3نموونە
Jesus Is Alive!
The day Jesus rose from the dead was the most important day in all of history. At that moment, the future of the universe was forever changed. Can you imagine being there and bearing witness to such a momentous event? I’m not sure anyone there would have truly understood the significance of what was happening in heaven and on earth in those three days when Jesus died and then rose again.
About 20 years after witnessing this event, Peter wrote his thoughts on the resurrection of Jesus in a letter to Christians in Asia Minor. These people were exiled, worn down, and persecuted for their belief in Jesus Christ. In this letter, one of the first things Peter reminded his fellow believers of was the significance of the resurrection of Jesus. In that moment of resurrection, scriptures were fulfilled, an atoning sacrifice received, the power of death broken, and a new, living, dynamic, powerful, life-giving, eternal hope was formed. And it’s this ‘living hope’ that Peter chooses to share with his fellow believers. It’s so powerful and dynamic that it turns you into a new kind of human who sees the world completely differently and will never be the same again. We have a ‘living hope,’ and on those days when nothing seems ok, let us join with Peter and all the saints to remember that glorious day when a ‘living hope’ was birthed into reality so each of us would one day delight in the fullness of this truth. He is risen indeed.
