"Stay close to God"
My local church members planted flowers around our church building. Three of the planted flowers in front of the building were of the same kind, bought the same day, and watered over the same periods. Any time the water hose was connected, water leaked and sprinkled onto the plant with close proximity to the water outlet, making it much greener than the other two.
Though all the plants were watered, the one closest to the leak from the outlet had a little bit more water than the rest. Hypothetically, the closer you are to your source of provision determines your success. As I stood there admiring the healthy green buds, the Lord said to me, “Stay close to Me, and I will bless you.”
In God you live and move and have your being. Without Him you will have nothing to draw your strength from and no one to hope in. Staying close to God helps you overcome life challenges. Peter was sinking in the water until Jesus stretched His hand to help him. Peter wasn’t far away from Jesus. He was close to Jesus when a life-threatening situation came his way. Peter spent most of his life working on the sea but never thought about walking on it. So what did it take Peter to walk on water? He couldn’t have walked on water if he wasn’t close to the one who knows how to walk on it. What is your water and what do you need to overcome? What will it take you to walk on it? The flower knows that for its leaves to stay green and fresh in the sunny condition, it has to stay close to a water source.
The prodigal son’s brother who stayed close to his father had access to all his father’s possessions. The Father said to him, “Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.” Luke 15:31
Staying close to God implies having an awesome relationship with Him. God wants you to stay close to Him, like Adam and Eve were before the fall. While holiness allows you to get in the presence of God, spending time with God through prayer allows you to get on His lap. Prayer and the word are the master key to a good relationship with God.
