A Fun & Holy Life With Jesus Christنموونە
Do You Have To Obey All of God’s Commands?
If you’ve read the Bible, you’ve probably realized that obedience is important to God.
In the Old Testament, God promises that whoever obeys his commands will prosper abundantly. In the New Testament, Jesus tells us we show love for God by obeying his commands.
What if you don’t want to obey God’s commands? What if “because I said so” isn’t a good enough reason?
When I first pursued God, he highlighted a few areas that were out of alignment with his Word. I almost got fired from my job because of binge drinking habits, so it was easy to surrender alcohol to God.
But I almost didn’t give my life to Christ because I didn’t want to stop having sex.
Once I read the Bible, God showed me sex outside of marriage was not his design. But I didn’t want to give it up. All my friends had sex, and I didn’t want guys to think I was crazy. Surrendering everything else to God was good enough, right?
As I justified my sexual lifestyle, God woke me up one day.
In Ephesians 2:2, it says that when we sin or disobey God, we are obeying the devil. God wants 100 percent of our life, not just 90 percent.
If you’re refusing to surrender an area to God, you’re letting the devil control that area of your life.
I didn’t want the devil messing with my love life.
As I prayed about surrendering sex to God, he gracefully showed me the consequences of my sexual sin. Heartbreak, lust, ungodly soul ties, and sexually transmitted diseases. I couldn’t avoid the consequences any longer, and I knew I couldn’t continue down that path.
If you’re struggling to obey all of God’s commands in the Bible, ask yourself the following questions. Do you want the devil to control your life? Or are you ready for God to redeem what you’re afraid to surrender?
Obedience isn’t sexy, but it’s powerful.
When you obey God’s commands and surrender all areas of your life to him, you give God permission to do the miraculous.
You open yourself up to receive God’s favor and blessing, and you prevent the devil from destroying your life.
Have you surrendered 100 percent of your life to Jesus? If not, what’s stopping you?
