Redemption
Have you ever made a mistake that caused you to hurt someone that loves you? Do you remember how it made you feel? Were you sad, embarrassed, or ashamed? How difficult was it for you to overcome the feelings you felt? Were there any consequences you had to deal with as a result of your action? Did you believe that there was no way to redeem yourself? You’re not alone if your answer is yes to any of these questions.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 3:23 that “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” This means at some point in our lives, we all have made at least one mistake or committed a sin that goes against God’s standard. Paul continues by letting us know that there is a penalty for any sin we commit, even if it’s only one. That penalty is death!
The good news is that we can receive the gift of God’s mercy and grace from Jesus Christ. This is because of His great love for us. John 3:16 states, “for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” So, remember, if you feel hopeless because of sin or past mistakes, redemption is with Jesus - and it’s only one belief away.
Deep Reflection:
Do you trust that God can redeem your life from past mistakes or sins?
