But God: The Power of Hope When Catastrophe Crashes Inنموونە
Pain can make you resentful, screaming into the sky, “God, why? Just why?” or it can make you whisper, “Lord, we’re going to trust You in it all because You are so good. You are worthy of our absolute trust.” Thank goodness He is patient enough to wait for us to work through our torment and confusion. By God’s grace, our family has been enveloped in the Lord’s arms and has collectively grown stronger as a result of our suffering. Ultimately, we always come back to the same inevitable reality: Either we trust God or we don’t. Our family has chosen to trust Him.
With each passing day, we have watched our children courageously accept and overcome the challenges we’ve all faced. I’m sure you have said to your kids or at least heard the phrase “God’s plans are better than our dreams.” We all have dreams of what we think should happen in our lives and in our kids’ lives, and our kids hold some of those same hopes. But the Lord has His own plan. Our kids have surrendered to that as a part of this journey, and they have done so with such love and grace that I feel humbled by them daily.
Prayer
Lord, please forgive me for the times I’ve questioned You in my pain. I know that what You have for me is better than what I can imagine, and I trust You completely. Amen.
