The Need of Every Nationنموونە
Yesterday, we dealt with trusting God in our personal lives and for our nation. What is the next thing we can do for our nation?
2. Stay Right with God
Our faith must be lived out in every area of life (James 2:17-18). Trusting the Lord is expressed by obeying Him. After teaching us to believe God, Psalm 11 concludes in verse 7 with,“For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.” Our Lord is always righteous, and He wants His people to stay right with Him.
The entire psalm focuses on the righteous and what they can do. How easy it is in an unrighteous world with all that surrounds us to miss the unrighteousness that creeps into our own hearts. Is it possible that, while talking about the need of our nation, we are neglecting the need of our own soul?
Someone asked, “Doesn’t all of this wickedness everywhere trouble you?” Absolutely! It vexes me, and it grieves the Spirit of the living God within me. But I am most concerned about the darkness that creeps into my own life. When was the last time you were vexed over your own sin?
We must ask God to help us love what He loves and hate what He hates (Psalm 45:7; Hebrews 1:9). My greatest enemy is not the world. It is the man I see in the mirror every morning. The hardest thing for me to do is to keep myself right with God. Refuse to let the foundations of your own soul be destroyed. Choose to build a life of holiness and obedience.
