Where Flesh Comes to Die: Why Should You Fast?
Fasting is the denying of the flesh that feeds your spirit. You hear God when you fast. It’s living off of His word and hearing Him speak. Fasting is how we grow, by denying our flesh and feeding our spirit and saying "no" to the things of the flesh and "yes" to the things of the spirit. It’s committing to say “no” to worldly things and “yes” to God. The supernatural happens when we fast. There is a war happening between the spirit and the flesh, and fasting kills that flesh, allowing the Spirit to move freely. It’s giving over authority from your flesh—no longer letting it take control, and allowing God to transform you and do miraculous things. Even if you don’t feel or see it yet, He is moving! You grow by denying the flesh and feeding the spirit. Fasting is so powerful because you do both at the same time. 2 Corinthians 12:10 says when we are weak then we are strong. This is why you grow when you are fasting because when you become spiritually weak, you rely on spiritual strength
Prayer: Lord, increase my awareness. Show me where my flesh is in control. Your words makes it clear what the works of the flesh are. Show me how to walk in the Spirit and not gratify the desires of my flesh. I want to walk by the Spirit and be transformed to be more like You. I declare that my flesh is no longer in control, but You are in control. Amen.
