What on Earth Are You So Worried About?نموونە
Anxiety. Worry. Vexation.
Feelings of anxiety often come up when we are at a crossroad in our lives; when we are uncertain of what the future holds for us. As we’ve seen over the last couple of years, that may not always be the case. The whole world can come to a standstill at a moment’s notice. Emotions run high in those moments, and decision making or decisions taken are often clouded by our emotions or are dictated by fear which lead to poor decisions.
Placing your faith in the unchanging Word of God will help us be better prepared to go through seasons of uncertainty. John Piper says “ Our hope is not in the odds. Our hope is in God”—reiterating the fact that God’s Word is the rock we must stand on. Similarly in the story of Gideon, we see that his response to the angel of the LORD is dictated by his fear and doubt. He is unable to recognize that he is having an encounter with the Lord. Despite numerous attempts, he still acts out of fear. Finally when he does believe, we see how God uses him to overthrow the Midianite oppressors.
Similarly for us, it is a reminder that despite all that the world can throw at us, remember to stand firm on God’s Word because it is the foundation on which we can stand/fall back upon.
