The Face of Transformation

DAY 5 OF 7

Day 5 - Devotional

A life that has been transformed by God is far from perfect and without any challenges. It’s the lifelong process of living in the reality of your new self, and letting go of the old. Somewhere along the way, we come to realize that those two can’t coexist easily in the same space. They begin competing for space in your heart. It’s time to move on from the old patterns, and surrender to God’s way.

Jacob’s limp serves as footprints to follow. Having just left from his fight with God, and reconciling with his brother, he is at peace with God and others! For all of his character flaws, one thing that could never be argued about Jacob is he walked with God. It was clear that he was face to face with God, and it transformed his life.

That’s just scratching the surface of it, and his time with God in Bethel ends with a reminder of the promise He made to Abraham, Isaac, and now Jacob. Are you ready to set your idols aside for something so much better than that? You will be transformed as you let the living God make His face shine on you!

Questions to ponder:

What do you need to surrender to God?

What is one way you can let God’s face shine on you?

About this Plan

The Face of Transformation

Hebrews 11 highlights many of the heroes of the Bible, including Jacob. The deeper you dig into Jacob's life, you begin to see that he’s a mess. But what if the people in the Bible aren't just heroes to imitate, but people to walk with on their own journey of faith? Let’s walk through the life of Jacob, and see his life transformed by the grace of God.
