Expecting the One With Many Namesنموونە
ONLY MENTIONED ONE TIME BY THE NAME SHILOH
When we read the name ‘Shiloh’ as mentioned several times in the Old Testament, it refers to an area in Israel; however, the title takes on a new meaning in this verse. This was a prophetic word about the coming of Jesus. The verse indicates that Judah would remain in power until the 2nd coming of Jesus. The scepter suggests power. Jesus is the lawgiver, and it is to Him we should be obedient. The name is that of a peace giver, and how very appropriate; it is yet another beautiful description of who Jesus is!
Jacob said this blessing from his deathbed over Judah.
“The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until ‘Shiloh’ come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.” Genesis 49:10
LET US PAUSE:
Today, let us center our minds around Peace. God is a God of Peace. Nothing is worse than when our lives are filled with tension and arguments. Let us practice being peacemakers. Let us practice holding our tongue. Let us practice being the first to say, ‘I’m sorry,’ even if we didn’t begin the dissension. Doing this a few times will change our spirits as we become more like the Peace giving Shiloh!
