Generousity Breaks Down our Barriers of Worry
Being a kid is supposed to be a walk in the park or a day at the beach. But the truth is, sometimes things happen that make us worry. Not everything is easy: sometimes even the fun of finding out you're going to be a big sister/brother comes with a side worry…or the adventure of moving to a new place comes with a side worry…or a really awesome friendship comes with a side worry when you get into a fight.
Believe it or not, generousity can break down the barrier of worry! Picture this, you’re getting a new baby sister, and you’re just not sure how much attention your family will have for you anymore. But you show that baby your generousity by showering her with attention and kisses, and you hold her bottle for her and pick up her toy every single time she accidentally drops it (and even when she drops it on purpose :) ). And in that generousity, you realize that you’re less concerned about how much attention you’re getting, AND you discover that your family has enough attention to spare for you and your baby sister.
Sometimes generousity proves to us that we don’t need to worry. Still, other times generousity helps us not concentrate so hard on our worries … in BOTH cases, generousity can break that barrier of worry we sometimes face.
Is there anything you’re worried about this Christmas? How can you express generousity in the face of that barrier?
