Infinitum Family Advent, Week 4نموونە
We LOVE stories about someone being given a mission: My Spy or The Sleepover, Nancy Drew or Lightyear, etc....… it’s all fun and games to watch people get an important job and save the day, but when it’s US?!?! We don’t know if we’re going to succeed, we aren’t sure who we can count on for help, we often don’t get to pick the mission… the list could go on. It is not easy to be given a mission - —that’s why we love those movies & books! It is so inspiring to watch people be brave, take risks, try their hardest, and learn how to work as a team…this list could go on and on too!
Joseph (Jesus’ human dad) was given a mission, and it came with all of the questions and concerns you and I would have! The mission didn’t fit Joseph’s plan; he would have to build a team to make it work, and he didn’t know who he could count on. He didn’t know how the story would end when he got the assignment, he wasn’t sure he was up for it all, and he couldn’t possibly know all that would happen in the assignment process. You get the idea, important work takes a lot of courage, even when your teammate is God!
But here’s the thing, God is like the ultimate group partner - He is working on the project while you’re sleeping! He’s smarter than you; He’s more creative. He’s never late on an assignment; he always does what He promises He’ll do. If you’re gonna get a mission and you need a team, God should be your first pick :)
Today, why don’t you and a parent, sibling, or friend (or combination of those!) take a walk & just look for the ways God is already at work, even when you haven’t noticed? As you go along, don’t forget to notice His work in nature, in people, in surprising ways, etc.............… all around your neighborhood.
Chat with each other about what you see as work God’s doing in your neighborhood.
Chat with God about these things, too—tell Him what you think about what He’s up to!
And, if you dare, let Him know you’re up for a mission with Him—ask Him if there are assignments for you to partner with Him in the work He wants to do in your family/neighborhood this Christmas.
