Genesis is a collection of stories Israel told themselves while they were in Egypt. There they found themselves divorced from the land of promise and distant from the God who promised it. Genesis gave them an idea of how to understand their presence in that foreign land, putting it in the greater story of God making Himself known to them and shaping their identity. Joseph's story is the finale, culminating in the arrival in Egypt, setting the stage for Exodus.
Something to think about while you are reading today’s passage:
Israel's story will fluctuate as much as Joseph's in the generations to come. Clearly, God's activity in our stories is not predictable or constant. At what point would you usually stop and say, "Look, God did this," or "God did that"? If circumstances changed, would your opinion change too?
Something to talk about with players of The Aetherlight:
Jefferson's plan to save the Snowmoors ends up freezing Aethasia's Blessing (the Resistance's airborne headquarters) right beside the Great Engine. You could talk with them about what that might mean for the Resistance, and whether they think the Scarlet Man has this in hand, too.

About this Plan
The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance is an exciting new steampunk game with a difference - It's an allegory of God’s amazing story in Scripture! In Episode 3 the Resistance shifts its focus to the Snowmoors, a vast wintery expanse. In the mission to start the next Great Engine a new problem emerges that threatens all Aethasia. These studies help players who have joined the Resistance tie the game and the Bible together so they can grow in their part in God's story.
