Plan Three: Nurturing a Fear of God

DAY 7 OF 7

IT’S NOT JUST A PRETTY SUNRISE

O God, to the farthest corners of the planet people will stand in awe, startled and stunned by your signs and wonders. Sunrise brilliance and sunset beauty both take turns singing their songs of joy to you. (Psalm 65:8 TPT)

As the eastern sky awakens from a steely blue to vibrant reds, and oranges and yellows creep across the sky, enflaming clouds that were hidden in darkness, our heart awakens from its slumber and springs forth worship of an awesome God whose mercies are new every morning.

It’s not just a pretty sunrise.

It’s each morning’s visual crescendo of worship, and every color expresses its own praise of its Creator in a harmonious, pulsating concerto that, for now, is muted to human ears because of sin, yet is intended to inspire us to look up and join the morning song.

It’s not just a pretty sunrise.

It’s a unique display of the beauty of a sky awash in color that is meant to startle our senses and cause us to fear the awesome greatness of our loving God who gifted this earth with a life-giving sun whose rays reveal beauty, provide strength, nourish our bodies, raise our hopes, and lift our spirits just like its Creator.

It’s not just a pretty sunrise.

It’s creation’s resplendent morning call to worship. Each call is a glorious one-and-only masterpiece painted across the sky, designed to elicit shouts of joyful thanksgiving to our gracious God, who has once again chosen to bless us with the quickening rays of His sun.

It’s not just a pretty sunrise.
