DAY 1 OF 21

"Pray without Ceasing"

Prayer is simply communication with God. Oswald Chambers wrote, “To say that ‘prayer changes things’ is not as close to the truth as saying, ‘Prayer changes me and then I change things.’”

When you’re speaking to God, you don’t need any set format. You could be driving home from work or to the grocery store, and you can talk to Him. First Thessalonians 5:17 tells us, “Pray without ceasing.” If you’re going through a rough time at the moment, I would encourage you to pray and to come before the Lord in a childlike attitude and tell Him about your needs.

I talk to the Lord, and I sing, cry, and argue with the Lord. I think He would prefer you to be angry rather than not to speak to Him at all. Think of your own children—when they don’t speak to you, that’s when you get concerned. So speak to God about your financial, work-related, and domestic needs, and you’ll be surprised how God answers.

I have seen Him change the wind, bring the rain, and put out the fire. Remember, however, that prayer is not a proverbial grocery list that you take to God; He wants you to be His friend. He’ll talk back to you, not necessarily audibly, but in your heart and through nature, through godly neighbors or circumstances.

When you go out today, speak to Him. Tell Him about your joys, expectations, anxieties, and fears, and you’ll feel a lot better that the Lord of the universe is looking out for you.

PRAYER: Jesus, remind me today to bring all the little things to You. Thank You for listening! Amen.
