Real Hope: When God Says No

DAY 3 OF 5

Getting a ‘No’ Is OK

When you think about prayer, do you view it as a spiritual shopping list? Or is it time to chat with God, and let Him guide your day?

Prayer is deeply personal, but it offers us all something universal.

When we pray and don’t get the answer we expect, it’s hard. We might ask for a work promotion and see it go to someone else. We might ask for healing, only to see a loved one overcome by disease.

This verse in Philippians shows us though, that the exchange that takes place in prayer isn’t a request for a ‘Yes’ – it’s anxiety for peace.

In every situation we present our request to God, and this verse promises us the gift of His peace. It doesn’t say, ‘and if you get the job, you’ll get the peace of God’, it simply says to offer our requests and He will give us an unfathomable peace.

Regardless of whether the answer to your prayer is ‘Yes’ or ‘No’, you will always be given the gift of peace through the outcome. And not only will peace ease your anxiety, it will also ‘guard your heart and your mind’ from the grief, the worries, and the sadness that may come from that ‘No’.

Prayer always brings peace.

About this Plan

Real Hope: When God Says No

God saying ‘No’. It’s not something we really want to think about God saying to us. Even a ‘Not yet’ is better than a ‘No’. But the reality is sometimes God says ‘No’. As we wrestle with this topic in this plan, we hope you’ll see how our sovereign God is writing a story on our lives that is far greater than we can even think, dream or imagine.
