Soulmates: 5 Steps to Deepening the Soul of Your Marriageنموونە

Step 4: Serving Together
Author Gary Thomas states, “We are most happy when we are most focused on serving God together.” It is impossible to serve God without serving one another. Serving God beside/with your spouse is one of the greatest soul-connecting marital adventures. There is something incredibly romantic about watching your spouse serve and love others. It will increase your love and respect for them.
It takes a special humility to seek to serve instead of living from a selfish position. Even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and lay down His life in service to others. Serving others together draws out a beautiful connecting humility in the marital relationship.
John Hagee has said, “The measure of a man’s greatness is not the number of servants he has, but the number of people he serves.” Servant leadership inspires others.
As part of building a great partnership together, serve in an area where you both see value, purpose, and potential. Don’t force it. There is plenty of need and opportunity and many ways to serve.
It is a privilege to serve God and others. It is also a practical way to deepen the soul of your marriage.
Action step: Pray and discuss possible ways that you and your spouse can serve others together.
