The Foundation of Ministry

DAY 3 OF 3

WE ARE CALLED TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL

INTRODUCTION

God declared His Kingdom amid this world when He created the world. He revealed His authority in this world by giving Adam power over everything on earth. The fall of man into sin made people lose their authority/power. However, God is love; through the Lord Jesus Christ, He reconciled people back to the Lord.

As a result, each of us regains our authority and grace to serve the King above all kings. We are called and chosen by God to be His people. It is also clear that we are equipped with the power to serve Him.

The Lord Jesus said in Mark 10:43-44, “Yet it shall not be so among you, but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant and whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.”

The most important thing to know as citizens of the Kingdom of God is the heart of Christ and how to reflect it in our lives. The question is, what does the heart of Christ look like? The heart of Christ is about serving souls.

The kingdom is unshaken; the Kingdom of God is eternal.

This is why the Lord Jesus came to this world: to declare the Kingdom of God. The Lord Jesus restored the souls and brought them into His Kingdom. Jesus said in His first sermon in
Matthew 4:17, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Our first call is repentance. Repentance means we are called to change our old mind (sin) to a new mind (truth). After that, we are filled with His Spirit and sent to the world to become the ambassadors of His Kingdom. The world can know Jesus Christ, believe in Jesus Christ and worship the Lord Jesus through our lives.

SHARING

How could we fulfil God's calling to be an ambassador of God's Kingdom? Below is the list of our next calling after repentance:

1. WE ARE CALLED TO BE DISCIPLES

In the past, we were children of the world. Because of Jesus Christ, we have become the children of God. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” John 1:12.

In the past, we were not children of the Kingdom of Light. Now, we live in the Kingdom of Light. We used to have a lifestyle of darkness and everything old. We cannot bring that darkness into the Kingdom of Light where we live now. Our thoughts must be filled with new things in the Kingdom of Light. That's why we need to be discipled. As disciples of Christ, we need a place of guidance and training.

Brothers and sisters, discipleship will never stop as long as we are still alive on this earth. We need guidance from the Holy Spirit because the anointing will teach us.

2. WE ARE CALLED TO HAVE A FELLOWSHIP

Do you know what the early churches did after they became disciples? They had a fellowship. Why is it so important to have a fellowship with fellow believers? We need to have a fellowship because we will get a lot of physical and spiritual blessings from a fellowship. Let’s read Hebrews 10: 24-25 and Romans 12: 4-8.

In our spiritual journey, we will receive power and care from our brothers and sisters in Christ.

3. WE ARE CALLED TO PREACH THE GOSPEL

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come." (Mat 24:14)

Brothers and sisters, the word of God reminds us that we need to open our eyes and look at those around us. Many people are waiting for us; they are lost in this dark world.

Our pulpit to preach the Gospel is our workplace, school, home, and other places wherever we go.

God’s third call is a call we receive after God has equipped us in discipleship and fellowship. This is the call to tell other people outside there about the great deeds of God in our lives. (read 1 Peter 2: 9)

DISCUSSION

1. What is the most effective and efficient way to evangelize others about the Kingdom of God?

2. What is the biggest challenge in discipleship?

3. Let’s discuss what can still be done to make our fellowship becomes stronger and bears more fruits.
