God’s Light in the Darkness

DAY 5 OF 5

What lies beyond the darkness

Before Moses died, God led him up a mountain that overlooked the Promised Land. God showed Moses what he was giving to his people through Moses’ work after all those years marked by pain and sin and death: a land flowing with milk and honey, the very land where the Savior of the world would be born to God’s people. Moses’ life had meaning.

Sit with Moses on that mountain. Moses prayed in Psalm 90:16,17: "May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children. May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us.” Unless judgment day comes first, we will die. I have had the privilege of spending time with people who knew they were dying. We did not talk about how much they loved their nice houses or great vacations. We talked about the joy it gave them to know they would meet their families again in heaven. See what gives your life real meaning. See your children one day telling their children about the way their Savior loves them. See a house of worship that you supported with your prayers and with your offerings, filled with people you’ve never seen and don’t know. See the Last Day, when God will call all those souls to the Promised Land we are waiting for. In the middle of a dark world, see that; you will see what lies beyond the darkness!
