Choose Your Future

DAY 1 OF 5

You Decide

Psalm 16:5-6 (The Message): 'My choice is you, God, first and only. And now I find I’m your choice! You set me up with a house and yard. And then you made me your heir!'

Have you observed a child who is in control of the television remote? The phrase that best describes it is, the world is his oyster. Even though he is spoiled for choice, you would hardly find him choosing the news channel. He typically would gravitate towards channels of interest depending on his age and likes.

The ability to choose is one of the greatest gifts that God has given to man. You can change your life completely by the things you choose. What happens to you in life is not nearly as important as the way you choose to respond to it. The truth is that the choices you make are far more important in shaping your life than your circumstances. Two people can go through the same thing, and while one comes out on top, the other is buried by it. The outcome is greatly determined by the choices they made. What made the difference in the destinies of Saul and David was the choices each man made, even though both made mistakes.

One major way of changing anything is to change the value you place on it. This applies to relationships, marriage, finances, work, children, business, family, etc. When you value something, you make choices that protect that thing. What you value today will determine the choices you make which will, in turn, impact your future. Having the right values greatly contributes to choosing the right future. The choices we make are not outside of our value system.

God has a future in mind for you, but how you get there, if you get there, is dependent on the choices you make. God’s plan for us is eternity with Him but sadly not everyone will make that choice. Moses had to make choices that qualified him to stand before God's people and challenge them to make their own choices. Moses shows us that to be a leader, you make the difficult choices before everyone else does. Moses made choices based on the things he valued and it led to the greatness that God had for him. If we make these choices based on the right values, we too will end up with the greatness that God has planned for His people.

Prayer: Father, let truth’s shining light guide me in my choices and decisions. May the revelation of Your Word make my pathway clear, in Jesus' Name. Amen! (Psalm 119:105, TPT)
