Stuck in Your Job? …What About God’s Plan?نموونە
Your Choices, God’s Plan?
Remember when you were a kid, just finishing school? Everyone had plans and ideas of what they were going to be when they grew up… some were ridiculously impossible, and others were unimaginative and boring.
Whatever your plans were, there was excitement and keenness to get going with your life. To get out there and start doing it. To bring your skills, knowledge, and fresh ideas into a world that needed it.
And that’s exactly how God wired each of us. Whether or not you believe(d) in God, it’s how you were created – to make the world a better place by being fruitful and ruling over it (Genesis 1;27-28).
And so, you started your working life in this way also – to be fruitful, to help make the world a better place; using the very gifts and talents given to you.
Choices were made and things got rolling. Sometimes it seemed that God opened the door, or prayers were answered. Other times, prayers and faith had nothing to do with it, and you found your own way, chasing after what you wanted.
And today, your work and maybe even your whole career seems pointless. Your job is going nowhere. Your boss is a jerk. Even your skills and talents are not being used as you think they could.
If only you had made other choices along the way, then things would be better. Or so you think… but you’ll never know.
What you do know is that you are unhappy in your work, and now searching for God’s will, His plan, and even His help. It’s never too late to call on God, is it? And He always has an answer for those who trust Him, right?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6
And even when things go bad, God’s plan should prevail, right?
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28
And maybe you’ve heard this Bible verse too:
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
The Bible offers many comforting words, but in this study, we want to go past the words to find out how God’s plan fits with your specific situation, and how you can get back on track to making the world a better place – with the very gifts and talents that God gave you.
Ready? Then take your time to reflect on each reading as we go one day at a time, resisting the temptation to race ahead. Instead, re-read that day’s reading and take time to reflect and pray on it throughout the day.
One day at a time, God’s plan will become clearer to you. Let’s pray for that!
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, regardless of how I ended up where I am, I now turn to you for guidance and help. I want to use the gifts and talents you have given me to make the world a better place, and to reflect your glory in doing so. Open my heart, my eyes, and my mind to your plan for me – to your honor and glory. Amen.

And your paycheck doesn’t go quite as far as you want. Worse yet, it seems you’re stuck with this for life. Is that really God’s plan? Doesn’t He want better? This 4-day study digs in to the Bible to answer those questions and more.
