Developing a Great Prayer Life

DAY 2 OF 7

People often complain that they don’t have time for prayer. However, you always make time for what is important to you.

Prayer will not be effective in your life if it is not a priority. We should pray when we feel like it and when we don’t feel like it. I believe that prayerlessness is not a weakness, prayerlessness is a sin. It is a sin because by our lack of it we tell God, “I am independent; I do not need You.”

Prayerlessness began in the garden of Eden. When Adam and Eve sinned, the first thing they did was run and hide from God. Ever since then, the children of Adam have practiced the same habit.

Prayerlessness is a sin and sin leads to prayerlessness; these two things feed off of each other. Adam ran, hid behind bushes, and covered himself with leaves. Today people hide behind busyness and cover themselves with excuses to not go and pray.

Even if you’ve committed a secret sin, God is still waiting for you to run to Him in prayer. God knew Adam had fallen into sin, but He still said, “Where are you?” He expected Adam to show up and talk to Him.

Don’t let excuses, sin, or past mistakes cause you to give up on your prayer life. You cannot overcome temptation without spending time with God in prayer. I want to encourage you to prioritize prayer. You may think you do not have time to pray, but you have to make time for prayer. Prayer does not take time; prayer saves time. When you pray, you do not spend time in prayer, you invest time in prayer.

Remember that a sinning man will stop praying, but a praying man will stop sinning.

Let's Pray:

Lord, I want to invest time with You in prayer. May Your Holy Spirit remind me of the importance of prayer, lest I sin against You with prayerlessness. I want You to be a priority in my life, in the name of Jesus I pray, amen.

About this Plan

Developing a Great Prayer Life

Every Christian is supposed to live a life of prayer. As many men of God have talked about in the past, those who sin are often those who have stopped praying; prayer is the one thing that chokes out the sin in our hearts.
