Spirit, Soul & Body Part 4نموونە
What is holding you back?
Reflection
Have you ever seen a guide dog assist a visually impaired person to navigate the streets around them?
Have you used a city map to assist you to travel with pin-point accuracy to your destinations?
Have you followed a recipe to bake bread or a cake?
Introspection
There are moments, interactions and patterns in everyday life where trust is exercised and not even a second thought is given to the reliability or dependability of the tools at hand. Consider the guide dog. Trust is put in the training it received and its capacity to remain obedient. Even if a squirrel runs by, trust is put in the dog not to bolt or chase it down but believes that the dog will remain a constant assistant to the individual.
Consider that map. It is trusted to be to scale, correctly laid out with street names correct so that you shan’t find yourself on a wild goose chase, but will arrive precisely where you need to, when you need to!
Bake that loaf of bread or cake! Delicious! But you don’t know if the measurements of ingredients are correct or that you are going to experience the result of delicious, yummy food, yet you persevere in following a recipe blindly expecting it all to just play out together.
Trust is a regularly recurring exercise. Relationship with others has trust placed right at the centre. While God is always trustworthy, dependable, and reliable, the human story has been one of trusting self over trusting God. Why is that? What and who in heaven or on earth could possibly be more trustworthy than Him?
Sometimes, mind over matter becomes the ruling authority. Sometimes the limitation of the flesh becomes the ruling authority. Sometimes self takes authority over the spirit as it is misunderstood, unseen, and at times confused with the soul.
Our best response in such moments is surrender (and re-surrender), aligning life’s direction and experiences to the opinion of God; this is our thoughts aligned with truth.
