Lord, Shut My Mouth - Breaking Through Offensesنموونە
And in comes Grace. Grace that we don’t deserve but God Gives us anyway. Grace that others might not deserve but that God calls us to give them anyway. You see God gives us enough grace to cover others in it so that we can bring him glory. When we are constantly offended, we lose sight that everyone needs grace just like we need Grace. And the more we extend it, the more we receive it. I’m speaking to myself on this one too – Grace is not my spiritual gift. But what if we started spreading around grace like we spread gravy over biscuits?
When someone gives you a dirty look. When someone says something questionable. When someone says something stupid. When someone says something that is a LIE. When your character is questioned. When the character of those you love is questioned. When you are insecure. When you are hurt. When you are vulnerable.
Remember to practice the pause – do a Holy Spirit check-in, remind yourself of God’s Word and say Lord, shut my mouth, and search my heart.
The enemy wants to keep us chained in offense because it brings strife, discontent, anger, and self-righteousness – all things that take focus off of God. He wants us to be in a stronghold of getting upset over other people’s words because it leaves less room for the TRUTH of God’s Word. He wants us to think about wounds. He wants us to talk about those wounds with others. He wants us to be distracted by whatever doesn’t keep us focused on the Goodness of God.
But God wants us to have VICTORY so that we can walk the walk of being a disciple of the Holy Spirit and the true power of the Cross! The power that can change our hearts, our minds, our words, and actions. The power that breaks through offenses, shuts our mouths, and brings peace instead.
