Through the Bible: Johnنموونە

Leading From The Front
When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
John 10:4 (ESV)
There are two types of leaders: those that lead from the front and those that lead from behind. It is said that the wolf that leads from behind protects the whole pack. The Pharisees were likened to the wolf and couldn’t see the work of God. Christ leads from the front because His work of protection was completed on the cross, and we follow Him in complete confidence and safety.
Prayer
Father in Heaven, I pray that You bring us ever closer to You, soften our hearts so that we may follow You like the sheep follows their shepherd. As we get closer to You, help us recognise more of Your voice and Your word. Like the deer pants for flowing streams, so pants our soul for You, O God.

As “the disciple whom Jesus loved,” the author was undoubtedly an eyewitness to Jesus’ ministry from the beginning. The book emphasises both the deity and humanity of Jesus, known as Logos, and “was made flesh” to come into the world to save mankind from sin. Reading this book will increase our faith, and by believing Jesus as the Son of God, we may have life in his name.
