Today Is Going to Be a Good Dayنموونە
Today is going to be a good day because we know we can call on God when we are in trouble.
Troubles come to all of us. God cautions us in his Word to expect trials and tribulations. Sometimes they are like a flood and thrash us against the rocks. Other times they just suddenly appear and cause us to lose our sure footing.
We must remember what God’s Word says, and we can know without a doubt that our God promises to rescue us. Then we can praise and worship him for his perfect, everlasting love, mercy, and grace in our lives, and we get to give him glory!
I’ll never forget the day my husband and I sat, holding hands, across the desk from his doctor and we heard the words no one ever expects nor wants to hear: “I’m sorry to tell you this, Mr. Bengtson, but I’d suggest you leave here and immediately get your affairs in order. You have less than two years to live.”
“What? Lord, how could this be?” we cried out to God in the most inconceivable of troubles. “He’s so young, and our toddler needs his father. And I need my husband. Lord, we commit his life into your hands, and we ask you for wisdom and guidance for what we do now.”
The next few years were the most difficult of our married lives, but God’s hand and plan trump what this world predicts in the absence of a saving knowledge of him. While he had good medical care and an amazingly positive attitude, God receives all the glory for healing my husband and saving his life. Twenty years later and God continues to deserve glory!
God’s rescue plan may take a different course for everyone, but we can be assured that God’s will, plan, and timing are perfect for whatever trouble you find yourself in.
Do you need to call on the Lord to help you in your troubles? What is stopping you? His promise is that He will rescue you. Give Him glory for all He has done!
Father, you are a most loving God. We thank you that you promise that when we are in trouble and call on you, you will rescue us, and in doing so, receive all the glory. Father, increase our faith and our trust that your will, your plan, and your timing are perfect for our needs because you are a perfect God who loves perfectly. Help us to always give you the glory for your marvelous works. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
