Identifying Insecurity: 3 Ways to Cultivate More Confidence Through Intentional Soul Careنموونە
Strategy 2: Cultivate the Mindset of a Conqueror
Has anyone ever told you that you need some help? Sometimes it can feel insensitive, especially when we’re doing the best we can in our homes, careers, and ministries. Unfortunately, imposter syndrome will lead us to repress our need for help for various reasons. Whether you believe others are too busy or you’re fearful that they’ll manipulate you when you reveal an area of weakness, I’m here to remind you that asking for help will connect you to the community and strengthen your confidence over time.
If we’re going to cultivate the mindset of a conqueror, we have to confess our need for help. The Apostle Paul showed us how to surrender our self-reliance in 2 Corinthians 9 when he shared how he wrestled with his weakness. What was God’s response? God’s power is perfected in the presence of our weaknesses.
You may see pictures of David defeating Goliath when I say the word conqueror, but allow me to paint a new vision. A conqueror is someone who may feel as if they have nothing left but to crawl into Jesus’ presence in need of help, and that is okay. His strength is perfected in our weaknesses, which is seen in the woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years. You are that conqueror regardless of how long you’ve been carrying imposter syndrome around. The shame of needing help doesn’t have to silence you any longer.
Journal
There’s a level of confidence that you will only access when you confide in God and confess your need. Write down those areas you’ve been withholding from God and ask Him to restore your faith that He can and will move in that area.
Dream Again
Write down the dreams you would accomplish if you had the help to achieve them.
Let’s Pray
Heavenly Father, You didn’t create me to cope with imposter syndrome issues. You created me to be more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus, so show me where I’ve failed to trust You. I am not ashamed to ask for help any longer, so please open my eyes to those whom You have positioned to help me, in Jesus’ name, amen.
About this Plan
What would you do if you knew all of Heaven was behind you, supporting you, cheering you on? It’s time to practice some intentional soul care to get over imposter syndrome and the belief that we are cheap copies instead of the incredible originals God created. It’s time to dream again. Remember, when our souls flourish, everything else flourishes, including our confidence.
