Authentic Kingdom Culture: Power!

DAY 1 OF 5

Introduction

How we handle power reveals our heart, and what is in our hearts reveals the nature of the God we love. Is Christ our first love? Is He the one we are pursuing?

In this plan, we follow the life of Daniel through Scripture and carefully observe his relationship to power. We will see the types of power he had, how he used it and how he didn't. Most importantly, we will uncover how Daniel's relationship to power communicated about the God he served.

In Daniel 1, we discover Daniel starts at the bottom of the power ladder - as a conquered slave. Daniel is a captive of Babylon without the power to even decide his name. He finds himself a chosen trainee for service in the king's court. This immediately presents a challenge for Daniel because he is a Jew - a servant of Yahweh - but he has to serve a king and a people who have no respect for or allegiance to his God. How will he navigate this dilemma? He doesn't seem to have much power to influence this massive pagan system. Or does he? Let's find out.

About this Plan

Authentic Kingdom Culture: Power!
