Refuel, Reframe, Recalibrate: A 7-Day Devotional for Business Executivesنموونە
Faithfulness Brings Joy
There is a little phrase at the end of the parable about the talents that makes my heart leap. When the master commends the servant who made a good return on his money, he said, "‘Well done, good and faithful servant." And then this, "Enter into the joy of your master." Something about entering into the joy of God sounds so over the top! The NLT translates it, "Let's celebrate together!" Faithfulness is a cause for celebration!
When we take risks and are good stewards of what we have been entrusted with, He is faithful to bring increase and release the joy of heaven! There is no virtue in playing small. There is no option for joy in playing it safe. There is no one more creative and entrepreneurial than God. He is The Creator. God has always been about expansion. He extended Himself into created beings in His likeness and image. He extended His eternal fellowship to His adopted sons and daughters. "And of the increase of His government there will be no end."
When we get on board with God's expansion agenda, we will be overtaken by the joy of the Master! Even in the natural, increase is a cause for celebration. Whether it's a new baby, more market share, or a new product launch, we instinctively know that this is something good. And when something is good, we need to take a moment to enjoy it, just like God did when He paused to celebrate at the end of each day of creation.
Celebration is a Kingdom lifestyle. From small wins to huge successes, celebrate your victories. Celebrate your colleague's victories. Celebrate your team's victories. Celebrate your company's victories. It doesn't even have to be business-related. Celebrate your assistant's daughter getting into college or a coworker's victory over a health challenge. Celebrate! Celebrate! Celebrate!
My God, I love You. I love Your love, Your peace, Your righteousness, and Your joy! Thank You for every day that brings new opportunities to know You and to celebrate the life that You have so generously given me. Oh let each day be a celebration of Your goodness in my life and those around me. Teach me to inwardly sing and dance through my workday as I join with all creation to cry "Holy, holy, holy." Give me the courage to risk it all for Your glory to expand across all the earth and to hear those words, "Good and faithful servant." Let those words be all that I need. No accolades from men. No assortment of accoutrements to prop up my ego. Just Your commendation in the quiet of my heart and Your oil of gladness running down my forehead. That's what I want to live for, Jesus. I want to live for You and You alone. Help me, Jesus. I cannot do it without You. Amen.
