Married Couples: 16-Day Prayer Challengeنموونە
"Love Always Protects"
By David Fine
“It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”—1 Corinthians 13:7 (NIV, emphasis added)
“But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.”—2 Thessalonians 3:3–5 (NIV)
“Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who are out to destroy me, from my mortal enemies who surround me. They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance.”—Psalm 17:8–10 (NIV)
Heavenly Father, we thank You for displaying an unconditional love that covers us, guides us, welcomes us, and accepts us. Father, thank You for showing us a love that shelters and protects us. On this day, we pray, Lord Jesus, that we can give this kind of shelter and protective love to one another in our marriage. We pray we would have the courage and insight to see dangers and challenges that threaten us emotionally, spiritually, and physically. We pray we would have the wisdom to shelter one another from unnecessary opposition. We hope and pray we will feel comforted and safe in each other because of our love. Lord, if anything in our hearts, minds, or actions is creating insecurity in us, we pray You would remove it and give us the courage to change. We pray we will be able to reflect Your loving protection that we receive from You and give that type of love to the one we promised to love for the rest of our lives. Fill us with your Spirit, oh Lord, that we may love as You love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
