Miraculous Jesus: A 3-Day Christmas Devotionalنموونە
Be the Miracle
A season such as Christmas—with an abundance of consideration and thoughtfulness—has the tendency to inspire others to change their ways. Bitter hearts become sweet; lonely people gain friendships. All around, people appear to be genuinely satisfied with life. This season will at some point come to an end, however. What is important is what people will carry with them into the next season.
If you have ever been around a fireplace, you know that the further from the flames you get, the less heat you will feel. If your desire is to feel, and continue to feel warmth, you would need to position yourself close enough to the fire to increase your body temperature despite your cold surroundings. As a Christian, you have the ability to shift the temperature of other’s hearts in such a way that they will emanate with the love of Jesus regardless of the season they are in. Your acts of love toward others, when they reflect Jesus, can entirely transform lives. Jesus prepared His followers for this when He said,
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself…”
The evidence of a Christian is in how well they love their neighbor. As Jesus clearly stated to His followers, love is the greatest commandment. Is it not true that if you were cold, you would quickly find a way to get warm? Of course! Doesn’t it then make sense that, in the same way you tend to your needs, you should tend to the needs of others? In this very moment there are people who are oblivious to the miracle of Jesus, who have not seen a miracle with their own eyes, and who will continue living their life without ever receiving a miracle. The Christmas season, with all of its joy and acts of selflessness, is the perfect time to begin living a life of love.
Reflection:
The love of God is so pure that He sacrificially provided a Christmas miracle—His Son—for the sake of the world. As God demonstrated with the cross, love is prepared to sacrifice. Are you willing to give love selflessly to others? Will you decide to be the miracle?
