Day 5: Keeps Me Going
I won’t sink with you
Just like others I choose to fix my eyes on you
The way and living truth
These lines are my favourite from the song ‘Keep Me Going’ on the EP. Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus is like keeping our eyes on the prize. The prize is Jesus because when we have him, we have everything we need to overcome anything life can throw at us. 2021 proved to be one of my hardest years yet; mentally, physically, and emotionally the enemy pulled me in different ways. At times, I found it difficult to pray and connect with God because I felt myself giving up slowly. Giving up on work, ministry, friendships, and relationships.
When we look at the story of Peter, in Matthew 14:22-23, just like the wind blowing him and distracting him from the prize, life has a funny way of throwing different things at us for the same reason. The only difference is how we choose to respond to those things sent to distract us. We can choose either to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus or continue to be distracted. I’ll admit that releasing this project wasn’t easy. In fact, it almost didn’t happen, but I decided to keep going, despite the difficulties.
If we ever feel that we don’t need God to keep us going or that we’re doing it by our own strength, then we’ve truly strayed from the anchor that holds our lives.
Here are 3 ways that God keeps us alive and going:
1. He covers us.
God covers us through spiritual protection and nourishment to our souls for all those who believe in him. In a world full of danger and suffering, God covers us from evil. Just as an earthly father looks out for his children, our Heavenly Father does the same. Spiritual covering is one aspect but let’s look at the physical aspects too. I’ve got incredible God-fearing friends and destiny helpers that God has used to cover me (Psalm 121:7-8).
2. He strengthens us.
God gives us the strength to face anything we are going through. We don’t do things with our own power. Instead, it’s through partnering with the Holy Spirit that gives us the strength we need to walk through life. (Ephesians 6:10).
3. He comforts us.
When I’m feeling sad and weary, it’s the comfort that God gives me which brings me peace. Knowing He’s there with me to wipe my tears and whisper words of assurance to me, comforts me (2 Corinthians 1:3).
Declaration:
God keeps me going every day.
I don’t rely on my own strength, everything I do is through the power of God.
I choose to partner with the Holy Spirit daily.
About this Plan
This plan seeks to unwrap what it truly means to submit to God and what that looks like for us as his children. The bible plan is inspired by Gospel singer, Uchenna’s new EP titled The Art Of Submission. The plan speaks on themes such as faith, trust, and God's love and how each of these plays a part in how we submit to his will for us.
