Bouncing Back From Failureنموونە
Come Back Because You Can.
As we round out this week of learning how to bounce back from failure, remember that these five days are just the beginning steps and you can keep going.
If we circle back to the story of the prodigal son that we started with on day one, we see how clearly he makes a decision where he really doesn’t know what the outcome will be. In Luke 15:17–19, we read his train of thought about his realization of how his father treats his servants, how he has sinned and isn’t worthy of being called his son anymore, but perhaps he will hire him as a servant. Then, in verse 20, we see how he simply decides to go for it. “So he got up and went to his father.”
We know from having read the story that it ends well. His father runs to him in love, he fully embraces him as his son, and he throws him a party! But I wonder if he had to keep reminding himself every step of the way that he could do it. I wonder if he had voices of doubt in his mind, voices that reminded him of his epic failure. I wonder how many times he had to decide, again, to put one foot in front of the other. He couldn’t have known how his father would respond and he couldn’t control or change it, but he still showed up and did what he could do.
Sometimes it’s not about what we think we can do, but deciding we can and so we will. As you continue in the journey of bouncing back from failure, make it a point to simply decide not to trust yourself but to walk in wisdom. Walk in what you know is true. Transform knowledge and revelation into action. You won’t be able to change how other people respond, but resolve to do what you can and trust that God is holding all the rest. He is with you and He is for you. And the more you walk in agreement with Him, the better at it you will be. You can do it!
What is something you can get up and do right now that is a literal step forward? Remember 1 John 3:20. “Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings.” In spite of what it feels like, you can keep going!
