The Body of Christ

DAY 3 OF 5

Teamwork In Harmony

The body of Christ functions best by working together to reach people for Jesus, bringing them into the church, building them up in God’s Word, equipping them in evangelism. Teamwork is the key to life in harmony where Jesus gets the credit, just like the book of Acts.

Tenzing Norgay, who climbed Mt Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary, explained, ‘You don’t climb a mountain like Everest by trying to race ahead on your own or by competing with your comrades. When Hillary and I stood on the top of Everest, the whole team stood with us.’ He said, ‘For each level we reached, a higher degree of teamwork was required. One group would exhaust themselves just getting the equipment up the mountain. Other teams would find a path, cut steps, or secure ropes, spending themselves to make the next leg of the climb possible for others.’

God made everyone with different abilities, each having their own role. An individual might start a project, but can only accomplish what God wants with a team. But being a wise team member requires acknowledging: a. Who can I help at this time to fulfil their destiny? (That requires unselfishness.) b. Who do I need in my life at this time to help me? (That requires humility.)

I challenge you to find the people to help you fulfil the vision that God has given you. The result may be far bigger and better than you could ever imagine.

About this Plan

The Body of Christ

If you attended Sunday School growing up, the term ‘the body of Christ’ is not unfamiliar. However, it’s easy to forget that we are a part of a body of Christ and that we each have a unique role to play. Be reminded that you that you are a part of the body of Christ, and that God has created you specially to play your unique role within that body.
