5 Powerful Prayers to Strengthen the Hearts of Our Teachersنموونە
Hearts of Light
“Pick me, pick me!” How fun it must have been to have Mrs. McKnight as an elementary school teacher. Terry regularly prayed through her class roster, over her students’ desks and throughout her school building. Incoming students received a home visit from Mrs. McKnight during the summer, encouraging them and building the relationship that would be foundational for their learning. Her theme: Light. She affectionately named her students Mrs. McKnight’s bright shining lights!
Light and hope characterized her classroom, and students thrived in the light of her love. She retired recently, having invested 31 years of her life and all of her heart into countless students, her powerful legacy living on to impact lives both today and tomorrow.
Today, we continue to pray powerful prayers to strengthen the hearts of our teachers. Our desire at Keep Watch is for every educator to experience God’s light, resulting in peace experienced, hope restored, and lives changed.
Praise God, Who is Light
“God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.” I John 1:5
God, we acknowledge that You are light, both physically and spiritually. Darkness flees from You. We bring You praise for Your perfection and light. In You, we do not need to be afraid.
Pray for Hearts of Light
We read in Matthew 5:16 “…let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Lord, we pray for Your light to shine in the hearts of the teachers of every city. Protect them from darkness and evil and produce in them good deeds which will point others to You.
Pray for Those Who Carry God’s Light
“I have placed you as a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the end of the earth.” Acts 13:47
We pray that you would encourage and spur on those who bring God’s light into school communities through Children’s Outreach Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, LifeWise, Young Life, and other gospel centered ministries as well as through educators who know You personally. Draw students and teachers to Yourself through their faithful teaching of Your word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
In this devotional, discover how you can connect with God through faith-filled, scripture-based prayers which will strengthen teachers. As our educators serve on the frontlines with students, they need the Lord to breathe light, wisdom, learning, purpose, and hope into their hearts, shaping this generation. Let’s be strategic and focused on behalf of our school communities as we “devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Colossians 4:2)
