Heart for His Houseنموونە
Day 20
We Belong To Each Other
Ps Asha Rau
Our human bodies are designed to function together. Each part alongside the other, helping each other. Lose a finger and your hand strength decreases, lose an ear, and your balance is off, lose an eye, and the other will have to pick up the load. No part of our body is useless; everything has a function.
Just like our physical body, the Body of Christ functions the same; each part alongside the other, helping each other, iron sharpening iron. No part too big or too small, each having a God-given design and purpose.
However, over the last several years, the culture of individualism has become evident and only reinforced by lockdowns, isolation and segregation amongst communities. But this is not the way of the Kingdom of God. We need each other. As Romans says, 'we belong to each other'. Let us not forget this truth as we make our way back to being IN the house of God TOGETHER. Let us be examples to the rest of the world. Let us lead the way and let our togetherness shine as a light to our neighbours in this dark time.
We are designed to do this life together, even if that means fighting against the self-centeredness isolation has taught us. As Paul instructs us in Galatians, we are to 'carry each other's burdens'. You are needed, not just your online presence but your physical presence. You are a valuable part of the body.
Our presence in the body is good for others, as we help each other grow; good for us, to remind ourselves that we are a part of something bigger than the four walls of our own home; and good for the world as we shine the light of unity that brings others to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Lord, Thank you for the price you paid so that we could live in relationship with you and with each other. Thank you for your word that teaches us the importance of the Body of Christ. Remind us each of our functions within the Body. Help us to see opportunities and to truly learn how we can belong to each other. Amen
