DAY 5 OF 5

HE IS JEHOVAH JIREH

The Lord will provide is Jehovah Jireh.

God has been in the business of meeting needs since creation.  God met the needs of Abraham where the name Jehovah Jireh started when He provided a ram for the sacrifice after Abraham had taken his son Isaac for an offering. Genesis 22:14 says, “So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, ‘On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.’”

In the desert, God provided for His people with food (Exodus 16) and water from the rock (Exodus 17:1-7).

He provided for the people following Jesus through the feeding of the 5,000 (John 6:1-14).  He provides for the birds and the flowers (Matthew 6:26-27).  He provided for you and me because He loves us more than we can imagine (John 3:16).

In Genesis Abraham’s only son was set to be sacrificed and was saved by God’s miraculous provision. Jesus, God’s only Son, was sacrificed as the miraculous provision for all people.

When we say Jehovah Jireh, the Lord will provide, we can be certain it is true. We can see it in the flowers and birds. And we can see it at the cross; Jesus is His great provision.

As Paul so beautifully says, God will meet our needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.  The biggest need we have is to be saved from our sin.  God provides the only way out – Jesus.  Turn to God and ask Him to provide that way for you – now.  If you have already accepted His provision, then praise and thank Him – now.
