DAY 7 OF 7

The Silent Witness

Most people think of sharing Jesus with others as handing out tracts or sitting someone down and sharing who Jesus is and why a person needs Him. Those are both great things, and they have their place. But did you know your lifestyle is one of the greatest witnesses of all?

In fact, the Bible talks about the importance of our conduct before unbelievers many times.

Think about it.

Why would someone be drawn to Jesus if His followers are just as addicted to pornography as those in the world, or suffer the same poor health from overeating and under exercising as they do? Why would a waitress be drawn to Him if you’re complaining about your meal or being rude to her? How can you lead your neighbors to the Lord if they see you neglecting your family to spend time on your hobbies or watching TV?

Whether it seems like it or not, the world is watching you. If you’re just like they are, your witness isn’t going to mean much. But when they see you’re different—fit, happy, spending time with your family, excelling in your job, free from fear, and kind when others would be rude—make no mistake, they’re going to notice! And if they see you stand out long enough, it won’t be long before they get up the courage to ask you how they can have what you have too.

Your lifestyle is a silent witness. Showing people what it means to have Christ in you and for you isn’t going to come from sticking a Jesus fish to your bumper (that may even be a deterrent depending on how you drive!). It comes from the fruit of the spirit living in you and flowing through you.

Bringing others to heaven with you—what better reason to bear fruit could there be than that?
