The Great Physician

DAY 2 OF 5

The Path To Healing

In the beautiful but brutal film, Land, the lead character, Edee, faces an incomprehensible family tragedy and decides she must get away from society. In her grief, she chooses to purchase a cabin in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming, throws away her mobile phone, and attempts to make her way in the wilderness. The decision brings her to facing death at the hands of nature until a local hunter named Miguel comes into her cabin and life. The act leads to her salvation and eventually to learning how to live off the land.

When Miguel was asked why he chose to help Edee, he said, ‘You were in my path’. A beautiful expression of how humanity can respond to those needing help. He was not merely being dismissive or feeling obliged to serve her. Her savior saw she had a need, and he was the right person at the right time to fulfill it. Where Miguel may have dismissed his opportunity as mere chance, the Bible would say it was providential. Many times God puts people into our path for the benefit of all. The challenge is whether we’re willing to help those who need it most and willing to accept support when it’s offered.

These opportunities are more than the right thing to do but are also opportunities to point someone towards salvation. It may be the catalyst to sharing the motivation behind your care for others. Specifically, that you are merely wanting to represent Christ in the life of others and point them to His life-saving message. A blessing for you and for them.

Who is in your path today? How will you respond to their needs?
