Hannah and Samuel

DAY 1 OF 4

Faith That Opens Doors

In this amazing portion of scripture we see a very complex and heartbreaking situation where God intervenes and answers a heartfelt and genuine prayer of a woman longing to be a mother. What strikes me is the fact that even though this was a very difficult situation for the woman, it was not a difficult situation for God.

Through her heartfelt prayer she caught the attention of Eli, the high priest. He spoke to her that God had heard and would answer her prayer, and said, ‘Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him’. She believed what he had said, so much so that she stopped crying, ate something and began walking out her journey of faith. Samuel was a product of Hannah’s faith in God.

Interestingly, Samuel became one of the most prolific prophets in the Bible. He anointed both Saul and David as kings and he served as a judge and a priest to the people of Israel. A lot of the time we think that what we are trusting God for is all about us. However, God always has others in mind as we journey in our faith with Him. Don’t give up in waiting for the answer to your prayers! Your faith can open a door not only for yourself but for others too. Hannah received her precious child and at the same time the nation of Israel received one of its most prolific and anointed prophets.
