Familia

DAY 15 OF 20

Imagine if Olivia Rodrigo had made her debut album all about how she forgave her ex. No way it would have taken off the way it did. Her album, Sour, has been played so many times because it gives us all something to vent about! Even if you've never been in a relationship, you can shout those lyrics at the top of your lungs at the end of a rough day. Why does art like this transcend all our different experiences? Because anger is so much easier to feel than the many emotions beneath it.

What's under the surface of anger? Hurt, pain, sadness . . . pretty much any difficult feeling you can think of. When you get down to all of it, you usually arrive at a place where you recognize the need for forgiveness or the need to forgive. Forgiveness is a key piece to reconciliation. Forgiveness says, what you've done may not be okay, it hurt me, but I have to release the anger I've been holding. God has forgiven us, and offers new paths to us when we seek that forgiveness.

What does it mean for God to have forgiven you?

About this Plan

Familia

“Family” is a concept understood in every country, culture, and language, but we all have unique family structures, traditions, problems, and dysfunctions. It's not always easy to love our families, but the Bible is full of guidance on how to love each other well — we just have to be willing to apply that at home. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll discover how to do that.
