A Letter in Lockdown

DAY 13 OF 15

I WANT A PEACE OF IT

Years ago, I was involved in a serious car accident. I was driving the car and made a mistake that almost cost my life and the lives of 4 others. Since that day, I would sometimes feel a little anxious behind the wheel, particularly on highways, and it was something I had to bring to God in prayer. Anxiety is something everyone has experienced, whether it be a little or a lot. If you’re experiencing anxiety, you’re not alone, but because of Jesus, you don’t have to live with it.

Paul writes, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends your understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Jesus is the ‘Prince of Peace’ (Isaiah 9:6), and when you choose to shift your attention onto him and off what’s causing you anxiety, he will guard your heart and mind.

He is peace beyond your understanding. You might be thinking, how can I experience something beyond my understanding? Bill Johnson puts it this way “In order to experience peace that surpasses all understanding, you have to give up your right to understanding.”

Let go and trust God today and receive the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Challenge:

In every situation today that you experience anxiety, stop, and pray to God. Allow the God of peace to fill you.

Prayer:

Jesus, today I ask you would help me with any area of my life where I feel anxious. I believe that you are the Prince of Peace. I let go today of my fears and worries and stop trying to figure everything out. Instead, I embrace your love for me and your peace. Let it flood my heart and mind today, I pray.
