You Are God's Delight: Do You Believe It?نموونە
God Rescues Because He Delights in Us
In Psalm 18, King David is in distress, calling upon God for help. His problems overwhelm him; he does not see a way out. So he calls upon God for refuge and strength. He calls upon Him for hope and guidance. He calls upon Him for deliverance and rescue. And what does God do? He comes with thunder and might, anger and power. He brings rescue. He brings Himself. And why does He do these things? What is the reason God came to help David when He needed help most?
Read what David wrote, in verses 16 through 18:
He sent from on high, he took me;
he drew me out of many waters.
He rescued me from my strong enemy
and from those who hated me,
for they were too mighty for me.
They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
but the Lord was my support.
He brought me out into a broad place;
he rescued me, because he delighted in me.
God rescues because He delights in us. He delights in you. In what way are you struggling, right now, to believe this is true? Are you tired? Are you overwhelmed by problems? Are you angry? Are you sad?
Set a timer for ten minutes (or even five). Close your eyes. Open your hands, laying them flat on your lap. Picture yourself in a “broad place” a wide-open, spacious place with Jesus. Ask Him to show you how you need rescue. Ask Him to show you His delight.
