I Have Questions

DAY 7 OF 20

Have you ever heard the phrase, "misery loves company?" It's the idea that when we're miserable, we try to make ourselves feel better by making other people feel miserable with us. Sometimes we do that by lashing out at others, criticizing people, or trying to get our friends to complain about the same things we complain about. And sure, maybe that makes us feel a little bit better — for a minute, we feel something almost like comfort. But the truth is, when we're hurting, or frustrated, or disappointed, or having a hard time, we don't need a series of quick fixes. We need real comfort.

There are a lot of things, people, and places we often run to when we need comfort. But ultimately, only the God who made us can bring us real and lasting comfort. Aren't you glad God actually wants to comfort us?

When you're upset, what are some unhealthy ways in which you sometimes look for comfort? How can you find comfort in Jesus instead?

I Have Questions

In times of loss, grief, pain, or doubt, it’s normal to have questions. In this 4-week devotional series from the Grow Curriculum, we'll look at four big questions we're sometimes afraid to ask, and what God says about them.
