Living a Life of Balanceنموونە
Key #1 – Live in His Strength
God doesn’t want you to live a stressed out, too-busy life. If you’re in that place today, chances are good you’re trying to live life in your own strength, not His. But you don’t have to! Jesus wants to help you every step of the way. He is the vine, you are the branch – you can live in His strength every day (John 15:4-5).
Life is a marathon, not a dash, and the victory goes to the one who paces themselves. It’s all about the proper balance. For example, when your hormones get “out of balance” in your body, it affects many other things. When your checkbook is out of balance, lots of other things are affected.
Too many of us are wearing ourselves out. In Matthew 11:28-29 Jesus tells us what to do instead: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls” (AMPC).
Doesn’t that sound good? The way we come to Jesus is by reading His Word. The Bible is God talking to us. It’s our manual for living. It’s how we know what He wants us to do (and what He doesn’t!). Reading the Bible every day is how we can be in the right place, at the right time, with the right people, doing the right thing, every day.
I know there are days when you think you don’t have time to read the Bible. But I have found that the busiest days are the days I need Him most! It’s so important to slow down and take time to listen to God on a consistent basis. The best way to do that is to develop a daily habit of reading the Bible.
When you put God first by reading, meditating and speaking the Word, He can order your day and make things turn out smoothly. Your daily habits are creating your future – the secret to your future success is hidden in your day-to-day routine. Don’t wait for that “good Bible reading feeling” to come on you – make it a priority every day to get with God, whether you feel like it or not.
